Sleman Sembada

Sleman regency is a part of the Special District of Yogyakarta (DIY) province with 547.82 km2 in width or about 18% of total width of DIY. From north to south spans 32 km, and east to west 35 km. Geographically, Sleman regency is strategically located, to be between the main tourism objects of DIY and Central Java comprising Borobudur temple, Yogyakarta Sultan Palace, Malioboro street and Prambanan tempel. Thus, Sleman has an opportunity to develop its tourism.

Sleman is located on 7o34’5” – 7o47’03” of south latitude and 107015’03” -100029’30” of east longitude. The topography of Sleman regency varies from flat, hilly to mountainous altitudes ranging from 100 m – 2500 m above the sea level. Sleman territory gets flatter to the south with sloping degrees varying from 8 to 0%. Sleman regency is governmentally divided into 17 sub-districts (kecamatan), 86 villages (desa) and 112 sub-villages (dusun).

Based on the characteristics of existing resources, the area of Sleman regency is divided into 4 areas, namely:

Area 1 :
Slopes of Mount Merapi area, starting from the road that connects the city Paste, Turi, Pakem and Cangkringan (ringbelt) up to the top of mount Merapi. This region is the water resources and tourism-oriented activities of Merapi Mountain and its ecosystem;

Area 2 :
Eastern Region which includes District of Prambanan, some district and subdistrict Berbah Kalasan. This area is a place of ancient relics (temple) which is the center of cultural tourism and the dry land area and a white stone material resources;

Area 3 :
Central Region of Yogyakarta city agglomeration area covering Mlati District, Sleman, Ngaglik, Ngemplak, Depok and Gamping. This area is a center of education, trade and services.

Area 4 :
West Region includes Sub Godean, Move, and Moyudan Seyegan a wetland agricultural areas where there is enough water and raw material resources industry activities rushes, bamboo and pottery.
